How we pick
We don't test products in a lab. We read the people who do, weigh what buyers report, and show you every source.
Six steps, every page
- 01
We gather the published tests
Measured results and verdicts from independent testers: noise reduction, battery rundowns, sound and call tests, long-term wear.

We read the buyer reviews
Owner reviews from retailers, forums and long-term reports, sorted into what keeps coming up. A quote appears only if we found it word for word. We never scrape Amazon reviews.
- 03
We check the official specs
Weight, codecs, rated battery and what's in the box come from the brand's own page or the testers' spec sheets, and we say when a claim and a test disagree.
- 04
We compare the scores
When at least two testers publish a score for a product, the Receipts Score is their average, converted to a score out of 10. When only one tester scores it, we show that score as published. We never score from our own listening.
- 05
We tell you who it's for, flaws included
Every pick gets a “Best for”, a “Skip it if…” and at least one real flaw. Pages without flaws don't convince anyone, and they shouldn't.
- 06
We update
Every page shows the date its sources were read. A new test, a firmware change or a defect trend in reviews sends it back through these six steps.
What we don't do
You'll never read “we tested” here. We cite who did.
No brand pays to be on a page or to move up one.
Prices move every day. We send you to the store for today's price.
Some links on Gear Receipts are affiliate links, marked “(paid link)”. If you buy through them, the store pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes which product we pick or what we say about it. As an Amazon Associate, Gear Receipts earns from qualifying purchases. Full disclosure.
Our videos use an AI-generated voice, and our pages are drafted with AI from the sources we read. Before a page goes live, every number on it is matched against the source text, and every claim carries a link to where it comes from. A person reviews every video before it's published.
